THE INTERMISSION GALLERY

The INTERMISSION Gallery, in the heart of the Johannesburg CBD, is a container for hope; a mirror for us to reflect the social complexities and paradoxes of the city and country that is its heartbeat. The INTERMISSION Gallery is a vehicle to realise INTERMISSION’s vision:

“to establish an active and sustainable creative community, that is aware of the necessity for positive change, empowerment and enlightenment, within the context of, and allied to, the promotion and rejuvenation of, the Johannesburg inner city”.

The 650m² clean, blank white canvas can accommodate both intimate and larger scale individual, or group exhibitions and projects; and invites artists and art lovers to share in the dream of the rejuvenation of the city and its people.

The exhibitions and performance pieces to date have catalysed a meaningful exchange of ideas and dialogue among the diverse and appreciative local and international audiences who have supported the gallery and its artists.

The versatile INTERMISSION Gallery also doubles as a film location and has been host to a number of highly successful brand and corporate events and conferences.
